End of One, Start of Another?
Due to the fact that recently I have only been making posts on the blog run by Ben and myself, I have been pondering what to do with this one. Should I just stop posting? Should I revamp it? I wasn't quite sure what I was going to do until it hit me yesterday. I have always been interested in photography and for some time I have always wanted to get a camera. Well, why not go for it now? I have decided that this blog will become a site of the pictures that I take. What I do, where I go, and other various pictures. In other words, the blog that Ben and I run will be my words and thoughts, and this blog will be my pictures (with some words interspersed). Until I relaunch in the next month, I encourage you to follow my other blog. Thanks.

The Sartorialist by Scott Schuman
Street-style photographer Scott Schuman recently released a book of some of his photos. The book comes in a paperback version (around $17) and a bespoke version (around $110). I ordered the paperback version and received it last week. After going through all of the 512 pages in one sitting (that doesn't happen too often), I came to one conclusion: I love the book. Along with some of the photos in the book, Scott provides a little back-story about the person photographed, or the process trying to photograph the person. These stories, although small, add a great deal to the book. Seeing one of Scott's subjects, you may think, "Boy, this person is so confident in what they are wearing" or "They look so perfect." In reality, Scott may point out that the person was actually very shy or self-conscious about having their picture taken. The best part of the book, though, is Scott's view on personal style: "What constitutes great personal style? This is one of the questions I get asked the most. We tend to think that to achieve great personal style someone must have perfect clarity about who they are and what they stand for. I politely disagree. I think conflict about who you are often leads to even greater expression." I couldn't have said it better myself.

Could You Stop The Ball Please?
There has been one problem that I have had with soccer recently, and that problem is the goalie. Especially over the past few years watching the U.S. soccer team, I have found that goalies rarely take the blame for letting in a goal. A goalie is always yelling at someone after they save a shot or the ball goes in. Last time I checked, your job is to save the ball. How about you get on the field and try playing one of the other positions. It's not that easy. I have played with goalies who have tried playing defense or midfield...and the results have not been pretty. So next time I'm watching a soccer game I would like to see a goalie use some humility. There is always a first time for everything.

Concepts x Nike SB "Blue Lobster" Dunk
It's no secret that I was a big fan of the concept of last year's Lobster Dunk. (the shoe wasn't too bad looking either) This year Boston shop Concepts got together with Nike SB again to produce a Blue Lobster Dunk. Not sure if I like it as much as the original, but still a cool concept.

Broad Rock Baseball
Went to go see my friend CJ coach his middle school team in the semifinals of the playoffs yesterday. They were the number 1 seed of the entire playoffs, but unfortunately they lost 4-3. It was an impressive season nonetheless due to the fact that they finished 13-2, while finishing only around .500 the previous year. Even more impressive is that this is the first year CJ and his friend are coaching and they are only 23 and 22 years old, respectively. Well done Chuck.

Up And Running
My friend Ben and I just got our joint blog up and running. The blog will include our ideas, comical situations we have found ourselves in, and problems we have with certain TV shows and companies, among other things. It should be fun writing it and even more fun reading it. The blog can be found here.

The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien
Tonight Conan O'Brien takes over for Jay Leno as host of The Tonight Show. Conan has always been my favorite late night host and I only wish he could have done the show from New York. It's also kind of cool that his family has a summer house in Rhode Island, which he visits frequently.
Say What?
I happened to catch a few minutes of the MTV Movie Awards last night. That, of course, was after the two shows that I was watching had gone to commercial. After watching the show for about two minutes, I was shocked at what was allowed to be said on tv. Apparently I did not get the memo, because the last time that I had watched television (a few hours before), one was not able to say what they were saying. Aside from the words that were allowed, it seemed that there were also more profane words bleeped every other word. When did excessive swearing become the cool thing to do? I'll save my rant about excessive swearing by musicians and comedians for another day, but the few minutes of last night's show that I saw really turned me off. Call me old-fashioned.
Changing Gears
So I will be changing up my posting habits a bit in the upcoming days. I will continue to post things that I find interesting, but I will also include some of what I do during the day, my thoughts about things, etc. This week (hopefully) I will also be launching another blog with my friend Ben that discusses comical situations we have found ourselves in, problems we have with certain clothing companies and tv shows, and much more. I look forward to these changes.

UEFA Champions League Final
Today soccer (football) clubs FC Barcelona and Manchester United will face-off in the UEFA Champions League final from Rome. The game will be airing at 2:30EST and one can guarantee that I will be parked on a couch watching it. Although I am a Cristiano Ronaldo fan, my allegiance still stands with Barcelona from the days of Ronaldinho playing with the team. It should be a spectacular contest.

Big L - Flamboyant (Unofficial Ratatat Remix)
I don't usually go for "unofficial" remixes, but I actually like this one better than Ratatat's remix of the Memphis Bleek track "Alright.
Curt Schilling? I don't think so.
With the good weather yesterday, I decided to sit out on my patio and change the handlebar tape on my bike. Now it is known by my friends and family that I am a little clumsy. For reasons unknown, I am always walking into things. So it was only right that I injure myself taking the bike out of the car. One of my chain rings managed to dig into my ankle and I thought for sure that there would be blood running down my leg. At least I had hoped there would be...for that would surely add some credibility to me jumping up in down in pain like a little child who had just scraped a knee. But alas, nothing. For the grease from the bike chain made any injury unnoticeable. With the weather still being nice, I decided to play a little basketball. I decided to lower the rim in an attempt to live out my dunking dreams. On my last dunk, (and it was my last for good reason), I decided to jump a little higher. As I threw the ball through the hoop, it managed to hit something and come with full force back into my face. I once again was jumping in pain. An ambitious start to the day was otherwise marred by a grease-filled hole in my leg and a red bump on my nose. At least my handlebars came out well.

Vintage Motorcycles
The Providence Journal ran an article yesterday about vintage motorcycle investing. Good news for those selling these motorcycles, bad news for those trying to afford them. If I only had the money.

Good For Him
Earlier today Brazilian racing driver Helio Castroneves won his third Indianapolis 500. An impressive feat in itself, but made even better by the fact that only a few months ago he was acquitted of six counts of tax evasion and one count of conspiracy to defraud the U.S. government.

Albrecht Durer
Back in the 15th century, Albrecht Durer lived in a small village near Nuremberg with his eighteen brothers and sisters. Albert and his brother both wanted to pursue their talent at art, but neither they nor their family had enough money for this to happen. They decided that they would flip a coin to see who would go off to study at the art academy in Nuremberg. The other would work in the mines for four years to finance his brother's studies. Albrecht won the toss. Shortly after arriving at the academy, his works became a sensation. After four years at school Albrecht came home and during his celebration stated, "And now blessed brother of mine, now it is your turn. Now you can go to Nuremberg to pursue your dream, and I will take care of you." Albrecht's brother stated, "No, no, no." He said that his hands had become arthritic from working in the mines and he wouldn't even be able to hold a paintbrush. As an homage to his brother, Albrecht produced this work of his hands which he called "Hands" but is now known around the world as "The Praying Hands."

Hola
So I decided to start a blog! (conveniently after everybody and their sister already has one) I found myself checking many blogs per day over the past few years and although it was fun, it became very time consuming. To solve that, I decided to create my own blog that encompassed all of my interests into one site. Hopefully the readers will find my writing and content intriguing, as I look forward to posting it. Cheers.
