Hats, Hats, and More Hats
I was browsing the Etsy featured sellers yesterday and I came upon this lovely lady. Her name is Behida Dolić and she is a milliner living in Hudson, New York. The hats that she makes are beautiful, but I was originally drawn in by her story. According to the interview, Behida was born in Bosnia but moved to the United States in 1998 as a refugee of the Balkan War. Her mother passed away when she was ten years old and her father when she was twelve. Coming to the United States with her brother and two sisters, she was able to gradually learn english, put herself through art school, and make something of herself once graduated. Her hats are gorgeous and her story is just remarkable. Behida's Etsy shop can be found here and more of her work can be found here.
